Investment Analyst Position (Internship)
We are looking for highly motivated interns to assist withsupport the Firm’s investment research across a broad range of real asset sectors, including power, data center and AI infrastructure, upstream and midstream oil and gas, metals/mining, chemicals, shipping and related materials industries.
Our small investment team offers an opportunity to work closely with senior members of the firm and to have extensive interaction with management teams and external advisors. The successful candidate will evaluate a wide spectrum of equity and credit opportunities across OnyxPoint’s core investment strategies in performing and distressed situations.
The role demands rigorous analysis of large datasets, financial modeling, and development of clear, high-conviction investment theses. Strong analytical skills, effective communication, and the ability to thrive under pressure are essential to identify opportunities and inform strategic investment decisions.

Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive company and industry research, including risk assessment, and quantitative and qualitative analysis of business, financial, and market trends.
- Analyze performance trends of prospective and existing investments, identifying key value drivers, risks, and opportunities.
- Contribute to idea generation and market research, identifying actionable opportunities across sectors.
- Monitor public market portfolio positions, including stress-testing portfolios against market shocks and evaluating factor exposures across positions.
- Monitor private portfolio companies, assessing operational performance, evaluating platform and add-on acquisitions, and reviewing potential exit strategies.
- Track industry news, regulatory developments, and market trends to inform investment strategies and identify emerging risks or opportunities.
- Build and maintain detailed financial models, incorporating multiple business projections, capital structures, and sensitivity analyses to test critical assumptions.
- Prepare investment committee materials and memoranda in collaboration with senior team members, summarizing analyses, recommendations, and key risks.
- Participate in investment meetings, effectively communicating insights and supporting investment decisions.
- Collaborate with the investment team to develop and refine investment theses, sharing insights and challenging assumptions to improve decision-making.
- Participate in post-investment reviews to assess outcomes versus projections, capturing lessons learned to improve future analyses.
- Support the team with ad hoc projects, sector analyses, and other strategic initiatives as needed.
- Maintain and enhance internal research databases and analytical tools to improve workflow efficiency and investment decision-making.
Qualifications and Experience
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with an exceptional record of academic achievement.
- Prior internship experience or relevant coursework in investment banking, sales and trading, asset management, or a related field preferred.
- Strong modeling, analytical, valuation and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to take initiative and be accountable for running a process to conclusion.
- Strong multi-tasking skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to excel in a rigorous and fast-paced team-oriented work environment.
- Outstanding communication skills with the ability to articulate and present complex information to key internal and external stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
Salary
The anticipated salary for this position is $20-25 per hour. This salary range does not include any other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with the position. The actual salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include but are not limited to, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, and specific and unique skills.
