Job Summary
Performant Capital is seeking a motivated Junior Software Engineer to support the
development of innovative, “skunk works” style projects across our portfolio of companies. This
is an entry-level role designed for individuals who are eager to build real-world software, learn quickly, and contribute to high-impact initiatives.
You will work alongside experienced developers and business stakeholders to design, build, and
deploy software solutions that create tangible value. This role offers hands-on exposure to full stack development, modern technologies, and direct collaboration with business users.
Compensation
Base Salary: $85,000 – $95,000 (commensurate with experience)
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
● Familiarity with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, C#, or similar)
● Basic understanding of front-end and back-end development concepts
● Exposure to databases (SQL or NoSQL) and version control systems (e.g., Git)
● Interest in learning cloud platforms and modern development tools
● Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
● Effective communication skills and willingness to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
● Eagerness to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
● Assist in building and maintaining full stack applications from concept to deployment
● Collaborate with senior developers to design and implement scalable solutions
● Work with business users to understand requirements and translate them into technical tasks
● Support integration efforts with existing systems and applications
● Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality deliverables
● Contribute to multiple projects simultaneously while managing priorities effectively
● Continuously learn and apply new technologies, including AI/ML tools and cloud services

● Support data analysis initiatives involving structured and unstructured datasets

Work Environment
● Based in Chicago, (1 N Wacker Dr Suite 3815) with an expectation to work in-office 4-5 days per week
