Job Summary
Quality By Design Kitchens is a kitchen remodeling and design-build company serving Sarasota and Manatee counties. We specialize in cabinet-led kitchen remodels, full kitchen renovations, flooring, countertops, backsplash, bathrooms, laundry rooms, pantries, and custom cabinet features.
We are looking for an experienced Kitchen & Bath Designer who can create accurate, attractive, and buildable designs using 2020 Design. This is not an entry-level role. The right person must already understand kitchen design, cabinet layouts, measurements, clearances, selections, and how design decisions affect pricing and installation.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both the creative side of kitchen design and the technical/detail side of turning a customer’s vision into a realistic project.
Compensation
$60,000–$80,000 per year, depending on experience and ability.
Compensation will be based on your level of 2020 Design experience, cabinet knowledge, design accuracy, client-facing ability, and ability to manage multiple projects at once.
Responsibilities
- Create kitchen, bath, laundry, pantry, and cabinet designs using 2020 Design
- Develop cabinet layouts, elevations, renderings, and design presentations
- Work from field measurements, scans, sales notes, customer inspiration photos, and showroom selections
- Guide customers through showroom selections including cabinetry, countertops, backsplash, flooring, hardware, and related finishes
- Prepare clear cabinet order documents, design notes, and selections information for pricing and production
- Collaborate with sales, estimating, procurement, project management, and installation teams
- Revise designs based on customer feedback, field conditions, budget changes, and product availability
- Help ensure designs are functional, attractive, buildable, and aligned with the customer’s budget
- Maintain organized project files and communicate design details clearly to the rest of the team
- Protect the customer experience by keeping projects moving through the design and proposal process
Required Qualifications
- 2020 Design experience is required
- Prior kitchen design, cabinet design, or kitchen and bath design experience
- Strong understanding of cabinet layouts, appliance clearances, storage solutions, islands, work triangles, and kitchen functionality
- Ability to create accurate, buildable designs — not just attractive renderings
- Experience working with homeowners during the selection/design process
- Ability to read measurements, notes, plans, and project scope information
- Strong attention to detail
- Good communication skills with customers and team members
- Comfortable managing multiple active designs and revisions
- Organized, dependable, and able to meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with semi-custom, custom, or higher-end cabinet lines
- Familiarity with countertops, tile, backsplash, flooring, plumbing fixtures, appliances, and lighting coordination
- Experience in a design-build, remodeling, cabinet dealer, or kitchen showroom environment
- Ability to balance customer preferences, budget, product availability, and installation realities
- Experience creating cabinet order forms, selections sheets, scope notes, or installation notes
