Role Description The Mergers and Acquisitions Analyst is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Chicago Area. The analyst will support the evaluation and execution of acquisition opportunities, including building financial models, performing valuations, and preparing investment memos. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting industry and company research, coordinating due diligence requests, analyzing financial statements, and assessing operational and financial performance of potential targets. The role also involves collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners, assisting in deal structuring, and tracking post-acquisition performance metrics. The analyst will contribute to presentations and reports for leadership, helping inform strategic growth decisions.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of prior analyst-level experience in accounting, FP&A, investment banking, private equity, corporate development, or direct lending
- OR 1-3 years of prior analyst level experience ideally with a top-tier consulting firm supporting PE in due dilligence, M&A, or transaction advisory
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey complex information clearly, effectively and succinctly.
- Demonstrates strong desire to for continuous learning and professional growth given the exposure to the entire deal process -- from sourcing, through integration, to execution.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret complex data sets and draw actionable insights.
- Finance and valuation skills to build and maintain financial models, assess transaction economics, and support investment decisions.
- Accounting and financial statement analysis skills to review historical performance and understand key drivers of business results.
- Due diligence experience, including coordinating information requests and evaluating operational, financial, and market risks.
- Proficiency in Excel and financial modeling; familiarity with presentation tools such as PowerPoint.
- Established acumen in leveraging AI tools
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is a plus.
- Local to Chicago and willing to work onsite at the office 4 days a week
