Company Description
BJB Administrative Services, LLC, provides administrative and business support services that help its clients operate efficiently and reliably. Team members work closely with leadership and partner organizations to deliver accurate and timely support, and the company values professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail in everything it does. BJB Administrative Services offers opportunities for people who want to grow their careers in a stable, service-oriented environment.
Role Description
We are seeking a versatile Controller / Bookkeeper to take ownership of our day-to-day accounting while also supporting general business administration. This is a full-time remote position for someone based in the Franklin, TN area, with occasional travel to Cordova or Franklin offices as needed. The role blends hands-on bookkeeping, financial oversight, and administrative support, making it a strong fit for a detail-oriented professional who is comfortable both closing the books and pitching in on the operational tasks that keep a small services company running.
Because this is a combined role at a small company, the right candidate is someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats, works well independently, and takes pride in accurate, reliable work.
Key Responsibilities
Financial and accounting work forms the core of the role: maintaining the general ledger and performing monthly closes; preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; managing accounts payable and receivable; processing and coordinating payroll; reconciling bank and credit card accounts; and monitoring cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting. The Controller will also ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, and internal policies, support year-end and audit activities, prepare financial reports and analyses for leadership, and recommend improvements to strengthen internal controls and efficiency.
Alongside the accounting function, the role includes general administrative support such as maintaining organized records and documentation, assisting with client and vendor communications, and helping with day-to-day operational tasks that support leadership and the broader team.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in accounting principles, financial reporting, and general ledger management, along with hands-on bookkeeping experience including AP/AR, payroll, and account reconciliations. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management—ideally in a small business or administrative services setting—is valued, as is proficiency with accounting software (such as Xero) and strong spreadsheet skills.
We're looking for someone with a good understanding of internal controls, audit support, and tax and regulatory compliance; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently in a remote setting. Clear communication and a collaborative, service-oriented approach round out the profile.
A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred, and a CPA or similar certification is a plus but not required. Prior experience as a Controller, Accounting Manager, Full-Charge Bookkeeper, or in a similar role is strongly beneficial.
Compensation
- Compensation will be based on experience.
