Job Description
This role evaluates and provides feedback on discipline engineering work performed internally and by contractors/sub-contractors to ensure execution aligns with specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements. The position supports effective discipline engineering and design routines aligned with team goals, while ensuring accurate and timely communication on engineering activities, progress, and issues. The role is Midland-based with required field visits to Carlsbad, NM.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and comment on discipline engineering work performed internally and by contractors/sub-contractors to ensure compliance with specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate execution of discipline engineering and design routines aligned with team goals, objectives, and procedures.
- Assure accurate and timely communication with the team and other functions regarding engineering activities, progress, and issues.
- Serve as Area Engineer for operations for a specific plant area.
- Collaborate with Facilities Engineers, Site Contact, and Lead Engineers to support the assigned operations area and gain exposure to other plant areas.
- Conduct monthly facilities surveillance of area-driven KPIs.
- Provide operations support for changes, repairs, and alterations of plant pressure equipment (including piping, static equipment, rotating equipment, tanks, etc.).
- Provide shutdown engineering support.
- Develop and deliver small projects, including:
- Scoping facilities via field visits
- Managing management of change
- Handing off project delivery to the construction team
- Closing out project deliverables
- Perform regular field data collection and field walks with operations and construction teams to support handover (minimum 2 days every two weeks in Carlsbad/area).
- Apply problem-solving skills specifically related to unconventional design challenges.
Skills And Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (or related engineering specialty), or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong knowledge of discipline design standards, specifications, codes, and applicable safety criteria.
- Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
- Fluent English (read, write, and speak) for technical and business communications.
- Unconventional design experience (minimum 3+ years).
- Oil & gas experience (5 years) preferred, or strong experience considered.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Technical/front-end engineering focus preferred over project-management/supervisor experience.
- Midland-based position with required travel to Carlsbad, NM; Carlsbad candidates considered for a 6-month assignment with potential for extension.

Pay: $86.50/hr (W2), IRS Standard Rate for Mileage, Personal Truck Allowance
