O’Brien/Atkins is seeking a Project Architect to join their established firm. The Project Architect is the principal professional for the project representing the firm with the Client as well as with the General Contractor, Consultants, and Public Authorities. The Project Architect is an experienced, registered design professional having a strong background in translating concepts into solutions, in directing a project design team, and in materials and methods of construction.
The Project Architect reports to the Director of the Architectural Department. The architectural designers and drafters are generally organized into team directed by the Project Architect, but report administratively to the Director of the Architectural Department. The Project Architect shall keep the Project Manager fully informed at all times.
Serves as the leader of a Project Team and is responsible for all administration, production and coordination associated with the project.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Registered Architect.Bachelor's Degree in Architecture with 6-8 plus years of relevant work experience.
- Substantial experience in construction document preparation and field observation.
- Knowledge of building materials, specifications and construction techniques.
- Experience in dealing with governmental agencies and building/zoning codes.
- Appropriate knowledge of engineering disciplines; evaluates and coordinates work done by consultants.
- Experience with contractor coordination and various construction processes such as fast track, CM, design/build and traditional.
SKILLS NECESSARY TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Understanding of the use of Revit, AutoCAD and personal computers.
- Ability to work with minimal guidance and supervision.
- Ability to organize and prioritize personal workload and make necessary adjustments in meeting strict deadlines.
- Ability to guide the work of others.
- Strong organizational, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong communication skills to facilitate close work with clients, field personnel and internal departments in achieving deadlines and quality work.
