Abrazo Group is recruiting a Manufacturing Engineer for a client that designs and manufactures complex electromechanical consumer products. This is a hands on factory engineering role supporting product design, tooling, process development, quality, and daily production. You will work directly with the people building the product, solve problems on the factory floor, and help turn new product concepts into stable, repeatable manufacturing processes.
The right engineer will enjoy working across mechanical assemblies, electronics, wiring, cabinetry, lighting, and software enabled systems. You should be equally comfortable reviewing a design, developing a fixture, analyzing production data, and helping an operator resolve an assembly issue.
What you will own:
Product launch readiness: Represent Manufacturing during product and design reviews, evaluating designs for manufacturability, assembly, serviceability, quality, cost, and production risk.
Process development: Define process flows, tooling, work instructions, quality checks, training needs, and production capacity for prototype, pilot, validation, and full production builds.
Manufacturing processes: Develop, document, validate, and continuously improve assembly and testing processes.
Standard work: Establish visual work instructions, routings, labor expectations, process parameters, and acceptance criteria.
Factory problem solving: Provide hands on engineering support to production and lead structured root cause analysis for safety, quality, material, equipment, tooling, and process issues.
Tooling and fixtures: Design, build, source, and improve fixtures, gauges, production aids, and error proofing solutions.
Quality and process risk: Develop and maintain PFMEAs, control plans, inspection methods, testing procedures, and process validation documentation.
Continuous improvement: Use Lean, Six Sigma, time studies, line balancing, layout analysis, and production data to improve quality, throughput, capacity, and manufacturing cost.
Equipment support: Define requirements for production equipment and support vendor selection, installation, commissioning, qualification, calibration, maintenance, and upgrades.
Capital projects: Develop business cases, budgets, schedules, and implementation plans for tooling, equipment, automation, and factory improvement projects.
Engineering changes: Assess the manufacturing impact of engineering and process changes and support the controlled implementation of revisions, rework, and nonconforming material.
Operator partnership: Work with operators and technicians to test improvements and provide training on new processes, equipment, fixtures, and standard work.
Safety and ergonomics: Incorporate safety, ergonomics, environmental requirements, and human factors into manufacturing processes and improvement projects.
How success will be meaasured:
New products enter production with capable processes, clear documentation, trained operators, and the required tooling available on schedule. Production issues are contained quickly, root causes are verified, and corrective actions prevent recurrence.
First pass yield, scrap, rework, throughput, cycle time, downtime, labor efficiency, and manufacturing cost show measurable improvement. Fixtures, equipment, routings, work instructions, PFMEAs, and control plans remain accurate and properly controlled.
Capital and improvement projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and with measurable results. Production teams view Manufacturing Engineering as a responsive and practical partner.
Required qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
At least two years of hands on manufacturing engineering experience within assembly, electromechanical products, consumer products, automotive, electronics, industrial equipment, or another complex discrete manufacturing environment.
Experience developing or improving manufacturing processes, production layouts, standard work, routings, work instructions, and fixtures.
Working knowledge of design for manufacturability and assembly, PFMEA, control plans, process validation, and engineering change control.
Strong structured problem solving skills using methods such as 5 Why, Fishbone, 8D, fault tree analysis, or comparable approaches.
Ability to analyze production data and translate findings into practical improvements.
Familiarity with basic statistical methods, process capability, or statistical process control.
Intermediate to advanced SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD experience, particularly for tooling and fixture design.
Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications, bills of material, and mechanical or electrical documentation.
Strong communication, organization, and project management skills.
Ability to work effectively with operators, technicians, engineers, suppliers, and company leadership.
A practical, detail oriented, and safety focused approach within a fast paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience supporting new product introduction from initial design review through pilot builds, validation, launch, and production stabilization.
Experience with electromechanical assembly, wiring, printed circuit board integration, sheet metal, wood or cabinet fabrication, plastics, or related processes.
Lean or Six Sigma training or certification, with experience using Kaizen, 5S, standard work, line balancing, and waste reduction methods.
Experience with ERP or MRP routings, bills of material, PLM systems, engineering change systems, and manufacturing dashboards.
Knowledge of GD&T, measurement systems analysis, Gage R&R, process capability, or design of experiments.
Experience specifying, purchasing, installing, or commissioning production equipment and managing capital projects. A genuine interest in building complex physical products that customers love.
