What To Expect
Tesla is looking for a highly motivated manufacturing engineer to create, develop, and scale up manufacturing processes for our cutting-edge Tesla battery cell manufacturing line. This role will invent, develop, scale up, and optimize battery manufacturing processes within a cross-functional engineering team responsible for the development lifecycle and launch into manufacturing.
The battery cell is a critical component in Tesla vehicles and storage systems. This role will have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to our products. The work environment is demanding, fast-paced, and incredibly exciting.
What You'll Do
Drive development of new/innovative manufacturing processes from proof of concept through to full-scale production that enable improved battery performance, cost, and meet throughput requirementsCharacterize existing processes, establish controls for critical parameters, and improve process robustnessExecute DoEs to optimize process conditionsCharacterize materials to understand structure-property relationships driving product performanceConduct analysis/interpretation and presentation of experimental dataDrive process commissioning on new mass production linesEstablish process controls for SPC and develop process related OCAPsDevelop and manage PFMEA risk assessments to prioritize process improvement projects and ensure adequate metrology and controls are in placeDebug process integration issues to ensure interactions between processes are kept under controlBuild process documentation to accurately define the process to cross-functional teams (equipment, quality, production, etc.)
What You'll Bring
Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or equivalent experience2+ years of experience in process development engineering, chemical engineering, or manufacturing engineeringExperience with industrial mixing, dry powder handling and conveyance, or industrial chemical processingExperience with battery and/or battery materials manufacturingDemonstrated capabilities in manufacturing process development for new and unique productsStrong understanding of engineering fundamentals and ability to apply them towards manufacturing process developmentDemonstrated experience in data driven root cause analysis utilizing statistical software such as JMP or similar

Expected Compensation
$91,600 - $195,600/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
