Position Overview
We are seeking an Advanced Business Analyst with strong experience in SAP , business analysis, process improvement, Microsoft Excel, and SharePoint.
The consultant will serve as a key liaison between business and technical teams, analyzing business requirements, identifying process and system improvements, developing recommendations, and supporting automation initiatives. The role will work across the Taxpayer and Business Services (TBS) division and requires the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze business requirements, processes, systems, policies, and operational procedures to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, IT/technical teams, Security & Technology Services, and Human Resources.
- Work with SAP SCEIS, integrated tax systems, SharePoint, Microsoft Office, Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), and OnBase.
- Support initiatives focused on process automation and paperless workflows, particularly HR-related processes.
- Gather and analyze data requirements across different business and agency functions.
- Identify business problems and recommend practical technology and process solutions.
- Document proposed improvements, including expected business benefits, efficiency gains, and cost savings.
- Develop support procedures, guidelines, checklists, and other functional/design documentation.
- Analyze existing programs, systems, operations, and workflows to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity.
- Develop and execute test scenarios to validate system functionality and expected results.
- Provide feedback on business requirements, system enhancements, and new features.
- Troubleshoot issues, recommend solutions, and develop workarounds when appropriate.
- Manage and prioritize issues through resolution while maintaining appropriate stakeholder communication.
- Provide timely status updates on multiple concurrent tasks and initiatives.
- Collaborate with management and technical teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Support special projects across the five areas of the TBS division.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior staff members.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and follow applicable information security requirements when handling taxpayer information.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of Business Analyst experience.
- 6+ years of experience with SAP functions and processes.
- 6+ years of Microsoft Excel experience.
- 6+ years of SharePoint experience.
- 6+ years of process improvement experience, including establishing tracking and performance metrics.
- Strong business requirements gathering and analysis skills.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with limited supervision.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with professionals ranging from technical staff to Director-level leadership.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and customer-service orientation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) programs.
- Experience with enterprise software and business process automation.
- Experience working with sensitive or confidential business data.
Education
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Business Management, Information Technology, or a related field preferred based on the role requirements.
Work & Candidate Requirements
- Fully onsite in Columbia, SC.
- Candidate must currently reside in South Carolina.
- No relocation candidates allowed.
- One round of onsite interviews.
- Contract extension is possible.
- This is a rebid; the incumbent is highly likely to apply.
