About the Role
Stroub Construction is seeking a senior-level Contract Controller to lead our accounting function and oversee contract and subcontractor administration across active projects. This role goes beyond traditional financial reporting - you'll be the financial and contractual backbone of our project operations, ensuring every dollar is tracked, every contract is compliant, and every subcontractor relationship is properly managed,
What You'll Do
Financial Oversight
- Manage all accounting operations: AP/AR, payroll, job costing, and general ledger
- Prepare and analyze WIP (work-in-progress) schedules and percentage-of-completion reports.
- Own monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and lines of credit.
- Coordinate with external auditors, CPAs, and surety/bonding agents.
- Support annual budgeting and financial forecasting.
Contract & Subcontractor Management
- Draft and review prime contracts, subcontracts, and change orders.
- Track contract terms, deliverables, and compliance across all active projects.
- Manage subcontractor pre-qualification, insurance certificates, lien waivers, and payment schedules.
- Ensure contract terms align with project budgets and job costing structures.
- Resolve billing disputes and contract discrepancies with subcontractors and vendors .
- Partner with project managers and legal counsel on risk mitigation and contract compliance.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in construction accounting, with direct experience in contract administration or subcontractor management.
- Strong knowledge of job costing, percentage-of-completion accounting, and construction contract terms (AIA documents, lien law, retainage).
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or related field (CPA a plus).
- Experience with construction accounting/ERP software ( e.g., Sage 100 CRE, Viewpoint, Procore, Foundation).
- Familiarity with subcontractor compliance requirements (insurance, bonding, lien waivers).
- Strong negotiation and contract-drafting skills.
- Proven leadership managing cross-functional teams.
Pay: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
