Business Development Manager – Data Center Power (Grid‑Connected Equipment)
$145K–$165K | Remote (US) + 60%+ Travel | HQ: Weymouth, MA
STOP — DO NOT APPLY UNLESS YOU MEET THESE EXACT REQUIREMENTS
You must have hands‑on data center experience, manufacturing/supplier‑side experience, and direct sales experience selling engineered electrical power distribution equipment into the AC/grid‑connected side of data centers.
This is non‑negotiable. Candidates without this background will be immediately disqualified.
You must already have relationships with data center owners/operators, EPCs, consulting engineers, and electrical contractors.
This is not a development role. You will be expected to close deals from day one.
The Role
You will sell utility‑grade switches, relays, and power‑distribution equipment directly into the data center ecosystem. This role requires a seller who already knows the players, understands the buying path, and can drive revenue immediately. If you have not sold engineered electrical power products into data centers, this role is not a fit.
Who We Are
A U.S. manufacturer of mission‑critical electrical equipment—utility‑grade switches, relays, and battery monitoring systems—serving electric utilities, data centers, defense, and industrial markets since 1946.
What You’ll Do
- Drive revenue by getting our switches and relays specified in new and existing data center projects.
- Map decision‑makers and buying processes across owners, engineers, EPCs, OEMs, and subcontractors.
- Build and maintain a strong network within the data center power ecosystem.
- Push products onto specifications and Approved Vendor Lists; expand OEM partnerships.
- Manage pipeline, support proposals, and present to technical engineering audiences.
- Represent the company at trade shows and deliver market intelligence to Product and Marketing.
What You Bring
Required — no exceptions:
- Direct sales experience selling electrical power distribution equipment into the AC/grid‑connected side of data centers.
- Hands‑on data center experience (not IT, not software, not general electrical distribution).
- Manufacturing/supplier‑side background selling engineered electrical or electronic power products.
- Established relationships with data center owners/operators, EPCs, consulting engineers, and electrical contractors.
- 5+ years selling power‑system apparatus or similar products, including 3+ years specifically in data center sales.
- Proven ability to drive new revenue through business development.
- Technical confidence presenting to engineering audiences.
- Self‑starter located near a major airport (60%+ travel).
If your background is in IT hardware, software, cloud, general electrical distribution, or non‑data‑center markets, you will not be considered.
Nice to Have
- Four‑year technical degree (Engineering or related).
- Experience with utility power‑system control and protection components.
Who We Want
A results‑driven seller who understands the data center power ecosystem, thinks strategically, executes tactically, and closes business.
