About the Role
SET Environmental is seeking an experienced and driven Industrial Hygiene Project Manager to independently plan, direct, and manage complex industrial hygiene, hazardous materials, and regulatory compliance projects.
In this role, you will own the full project lifecycle—from proposal development and budgeting through execution and closeout. You will serve as the primary client point of contact, ensuring flawless technical delivery, safety compliance, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
- Project Lifecycle Management: Drive the successful execution of industrial hygiene projects from proposal to closeout, managing scopes, budgets, schedules, work plans, and contract changes.
- Team & Subcontractor Coordination: Assign internal personnel, coordinate with subcontractors, and collaborate with senior technical professionals to ensure high-quality technical direction.
- Client & Stakeholder Relations: Act as the primary point of contact, building and fostering productive relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and internal teams.
- Quality & Risk Control: Manage project risks, review deliverables for quality and contractual compliance, and promote all company policies and safety standards.
- Business Leadership: Demonstrate sound business judgment, effective leadership, and strong communication skills to drive project profitability and schedule adherence.
Position Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety, or a related field.
- 6+ years of relevant industrial hygiene experience in a consulting environment.
- Hands-on expertise in:
- IH surveys and audits, indoor air quality (IAQ), and noise assessments.
- Asbestos-containing building materials (ACBM), lead-based paint (LBP), and mold investigations.
- Asbestos abatement and fiber release assessments.
- Environmental investigations, including soil and groundwater sampling.
- EH&S / occupational safety training and medical monitoring oversight.
Knowledge & Skills
- Deep knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
- Proficiency with business writing and the Microsoft Office 365 software suite.
- Exceptional organization, written/verbal communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask, learn new techniques quickly, work independently, and follow instructions.
Travel & Logistics
- Willingness to travel up to 25%, including short-duration overnight trips (2–6 days at a time).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass a local, state, and federal background check, as well as a physical exam including drug and alcohol screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications & Registrations: Professional credentials such as PMP, CIH, CHMM, or CSP (or the ability to obtain within one year of hire).
- Safety Training:
- 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER with current 8-hour refresher.
- 30-Hour OSHA Construction and General Industry Safety Training.
- Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training.
- Specialized Credentials: Current Colorado asbestos and lead-based paint certifications; current methamphetamine consultant certification.
- Industry Background: Previous work experience in construction or heavy industry.
