Position Description:
CGI is seeking a Mid Level Java/J2EE Developer with 35 years of experience building high performing, scalable, enterprise grade applications. The candidate will contribute to Java Enterprise Edition application development and support the full software development lifecycle, from concept and design through implementation and testing.
***This position is located in our Fairfax, VA or Lafayette, LA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable***
Your future duties and responsibilities:
. Participate in full stack development across the back end, client side, and UI.
. Design and develop solutions following established frameworks, application development standards, and quality processes.
. Analyze the impact of changes in functional requirements on technical design.
. Contribute to all phases of the application development lifecycle (design, development, testing, deployment, support).
. Write well structured, efficient, and maintainable code compliant with existing frameworks and standards.
. Troubleshoot development and production issues and assist in resolving them in line with established procedures and guidelines.
. Support continuous improvement efforts by exploring and recommending alternatives, tools, and technologies.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
. 35 years of experience with the Java/JEE technology stack, including exposure to database, server side development, front end development, and CI/CD integration.
. Solid Java development skills, including hands on experience with Spring and Spring Boot.
. Practical experience building modern, responsive front end applications using Angular (or a similar modern JavaScript framework).
. Experience with web Model View Controller (MVC) frameworks, preferably Spring MVC (Struts experience is a plus).
. Front end development experience using JSP, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, jQuery, and the ability to integrate these with Angular based front ends where needed.
. Working experience with relational databases (Oracle or PostgreSQL strongly preferred; MS SQL Server experience a plus), including writing SQL queries and basic performance tuning.
. Experience with Web Services (SOAP/REST), XML, and JSON.
. Familiarity with Java build systems and dependency management tools (e.g., Maven, Gradle; ANT experience a plus).
. Experience with Software Configuration Management (SCM) tools (e.g., Git, SVN, ClearCase).
. Experience working with application servers (e.g., WebSphere, WebLogic) and/or modern deployment environments.
. Exposure to AI assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, IntelliJ AI, or similar) as part of the development workflow is a plus.
. Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within cross functional Agile teams.
Desired Skillset:
. Experience writing Section 508 compliant code.
. Experience with Jira, Confluence, and Continuous Integration tools (e.g., Jenkins).
. Exposure to AWS or other cloud environments and DevOps practices.
CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $58,000.00 $136,200.00.
