Freelance Interior Designer (Chief Architect Experience Preferred)

About the Role:

House of Maevie, a boutique interior design studio based in the Triangle area, is seeking a part-time freelance interior designer to assist with design development, drawings, and documentation in Chief Architect. This is a 1099 independent contractor position requiring about 10 hours per week, with flexible hours and the potential for long-term collaboration.

Responsibilities:

Assist with design development for kitchens, baths, and full-home remodels
Draft detailed floor plans, elevations, and cabinetry layouts in Chief Architect
Prepare and update design documentation sets for client presentations and contractors
Support the selection and coordination of materials, fixtures, and finishes
Communicate with the lead designer to ensure all design details are accurately reflected

Requirements:

Degree or background in Interior Design
Proficiency in Chief Architect (or willingness to learn quickly)
Strong understanding of residential design principles and construction details
Excellent communication and attention to detail
Organized, proactive, and comfortable working independently
Based in or familiar with the Raleigh–Durham area (remote applicants considered)

Hours & Compensation:

Approximately 10 hours per week
Independent contractor (1099)
Competitive hourly rate based on experience
