Project Overview:

Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.

Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.

Job Summary:

Working as part of the De-risking team working addressing a wide array of topics across: design of mechanical systems,; design of material handling equipment, treatment and vitrification systems, and/or supporting utilities; spare part program establishment; non-conformance report resolution; and program simplification and streamlining. The de-risking supervisor manages discipline work execution and assures technical adequacy in accordance with company, contract, and industry codes and standard.

Full-Time In Office: This position is a full-time role located in the Richland, Washington project office, and works a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off. #LI-TN1

Major Responsibilities:

Manage discipline work process execution and assure technical adequacy in accordance with company, contract, and industry codes and standards.
Provide direction to discipline work group consistent with project/program.
Develop and revise Engineering design documents and procurement documents.
Perform work process simplification and program development. Specifically, but not exclusive to spare part program development.
Independent recognition and development of necessary updates and improvements to engineering processes.
Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team. Along with interface with subcontractor and vendors.
Support discipline design reviews to verify that requirements and expectations for design products are met.
Support the PEM/PE on interfaces and interface as required with DOE, DNFSB, WDOH, and Ecology.
Complete assigned engineering tasks within budget/schedule and support identification and development of engineering trends and BCPs.
Support and implement the Nuclear Safety Quality Culture in day-to-day work activities.
Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs and staffing requirements for proposals, forecasts and change orders.
Support the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Level I

Requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering from an accredited university or college (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant professional experience,

Level II

Requires a bachelor's degree Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering from an accredited university or college (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant professional experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Bechtel visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge.)
Non-U.S. citizens from countries identified by the Department of Energy as posing heightened security concerns—including sensitive countries, state sponsors of terrorism, countries of risk, and other designated countries –are subject to additional security requirements that limit site access.
Knowledge of and experience with P&IDs, MHD, MFD, MSD, Material Requisitions, Specification, calculations, and datasheets for Mechanical equipment on powerplants, refineries, or chemical/nuclear process facilities.
Knowledge of current computer applications for engineering and design.
Knowledge and ability to utilize Microsoft office suite of products.
Familiar with regulations and industry codes and standards affecting complex engineering work within discipline.
Understands technical issues and costs related to selection of typical design features within discipline.
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
Knows how to develop all standard deliverables within discipline.
Experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME-NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000.
Familiar with effort required to prepare standard discipline deliverables and knows how to prepare standard engineering budgets and schedules within discipline.
