ResponsibilitiesThe Data Scientist will leverage advanced analytics and machine learning techniques to drive proactive clinical decision-making and evaluate the effectiveness of clinical interventions. This position involves designing, developing, and deploying predictive models that integrate a wide range of data sources, including patient notes, claims data, diagnosis records, encounters, electronic health records (EHRs), and laboratory results. The Data Scientist will analyze data to inform clinical strategies and conduct rigorous matched cohort studies to assess the outcomes of interventions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Develop and refine predictive models using machine learning techniques, including but not limited to deep learning and traditional modeling for integrating diverse data sources into cohesive predictions
- Utilize MS SQL and Excel to perform complex data analysis, providing actionable insights to inform pilot interventions and predict their potential impact
- Conduct matched cohort studies using R and the CMS 100% sample data, applying cohort matching studies to evaluate the efficacy of clinical interventions accurately
- Collaborate closely with clinicians, growth and other stakeholders to translate analytical findings into actionable clinical strategies
- Maintain and enhance data processing pipelines and analytics frameworks to support evolving project needs
- Convert technical and advanced analytical findings into compelling data stories for technical and non-technical audiences

QualificationsRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Experience- Master's degree in Data Science, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology or a related field
- Strong proficiency in machine learning techniques and tools, with demonstrated experience using Python and/or R and data science packages such as pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, pytorch, BERT, XGBoost or comparable stacks. BERT, XGBoost, or similar technologies
- Expertise in data manipulation and analysis using Python, SQL and Excel
- Experience with SAS for conducting matched cohort studies, including familiarity with CMS 100% sample data
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex analytical concepts into clear and actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience- PhD in a relevant field
- Prior experience in healthcare advanced analytics or clinical decision support role.
- Knowledge of additional programming languages or analytics software (e.g., Python, R)
- Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques and practices
- Familiarity with EHR systems and healthcare data privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA)
- Proven track record of innovative analytics solutions in healthcare settings
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead initiatives from conception through implementation
