Overview: We are a prestigious law firm located in downtown New York City, specializing in high-end legal services in Real Estate, Trust & Estates. We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our team. This role provides excellent potential for personal and professional growth. Responsibilities:
• Within Financial Operations / Cash Applications, assist with the creation of close packages for our attorneys who are in charge of completing real estate closes. These packages include deal memos, escrow checks, bank checks and wires depending on the needs of the client
• Assist with the copying and scanning of these close packages for our records
• Update accounts receivable and issue invoices
• Update accounts payable and perform reconciliations
• Assist with reviewing expenses, payroll records etc. as assigned
• Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded
• Assist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines
• Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed
• Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports
• Assist senior accountants in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings
• Assist with other accounting projects
Qualifications:
• A recent graduate of an accounting baccalaureate program and/or proven experience as a junior accountant and a graduate from an associate program
• Exceptional ability to prioritize and manage tasks
• Accuracy-driven with a focus on details
• Good with numbers and figures and an analytical acumen
• Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software (e.g. QuickBooks, SAP)
• Qualifications (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) is a plus but not required.
• BSc/Ba in accounting, finance or relevant field
