About This Position:
This position functions as a Sign Inspector for the entire state of Louisiana. This position is responsible for inspecting the interstate & other control of access areas in Louisiana to determine what signing work needs to be completed and assisting the Engineer Tech DCL with inspecting contractor and in house signing work. While in official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Service laws, rules and regulations as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals and directives.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a high school diploma or GED.
Substitutions:
Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance will substitute for the high school diploma or GED.

Job Duties and Other Information
- Performs field inspections of the interstate & other control of access areas in Louisiana to determine what signing work needs to be performed. Meet with district representatives to discuss sign maintenance needs. Write-up damaged signs and other proposed work needs, including sign location and required materials. Develop shop drawings of special signs and submit fabrication requests.
- Perform project sign inspections in coordination with the Engineer DCL, Section 27 and the Project Engineer to ensure all state and federal procedures have been met.
- Works with Section 27 to collect data needed for sign projects.
- Performs other necessary functions as requested by the Engineer 6 or higher-level supervision and may be required to perform their duties as necessary including but not limited to, emergency/disaster support activities.

Career Progression: This position may be filled as an Engineering Technician 1, 2, 3, or 4.
Compensation:
Engineering Technician 1 - Starting salary is $12.22/hourly with an additional $2.00 optional pay for every hour worked.
Engineering Technician 2 - Starting salary is $14.00/hourly with an additional $2.00 optional pay for every hour worked.
Engineering Technician 3 - Starting salary is $16.03/hourly with an additional $2.00 optional pay for every hour worked.
Engineering Technician 4 - Starting salary is $18.35/hourly with an additional $2.00 optional pay for every hour worked.
