Manufacturing Engineer (Program Development)
Company Overview: We are a medium-sized aerospace manufacturing job shop specializing in multi-axis, complex machining. Our company is dedicated to delivering high-quality products to our clients in the aerospace industry. As we continue to grow and expand our operations, we are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our program development team and support new product development initiatives while driving continuous improvement on legacy programs.
Role Overview: As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting both new product development and continuous improvement efforts for our legacy programs. Working closely with the program development team, you will provide engineering expertise to enhance manufacturing processes, optimize production efficiency, and ensure the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities:
· Collaborate with the program development team to support the introduction of new products and provide input on design for manufacturability.
· Evaluate manufacturing requirements and determine the most robust and efficient processes for new product development. Including creating master production plan routing.
· Creation of fixturing models and manufacturing plans. Responsible for seeing fixturing development through from inception to creation.
· Create BOMs and purchasing requirements based on MIL, ANSI, ASTM and other equivalent standards and regulatory requirements in support of turnkey manufacturing approaches.
· Develop and implement manufacturing plans, including operational drawings and diagrams, work instructions, and inspection plans, tool matrices, ballooned prints, and OSP masking diagrams to ensure smooth production transitions and efficient operations.
· Perform time studies and establish labor standards to optimize manufacturing processes and improve productivity.
· Identify and resolve manufacturing issues, such as quality defects or production bottlenecks, by conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions.
· Evaluation of defects and creation of rework orders as needed.
· Integration of cutting tool kits, inspection gaging, and assembly tool kits into production environment.
· Implement any corrective actions or improvements upon closing of new product introduction orders.
· Lead and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives for legacy programs, leveraging lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, capability and capacity studies and other relevant tools.
· Identify and implement opportunities for innovation and vertical integration, including cellular manufacturing systems and automation.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Proven experience (5+ years) working as a Manufacturing Engineer, preferably in the aerospace machining or related industry.
Strong knowledge of multi-axis machining, complex manufacturing processes and work-holding.
Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and familiarity with CNC programming.
Proficiency in Microsoft software suite, especially Excel.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve manufacturing issues.
Solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and continuous improvement practices.
Experience with quality control techniques, such as root cause analysis, statistical process control, and FMEA.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Knowledge of aerospace industry regulations, standards, and certifications (e.g., AS9100, NADCAP) is required.
Facilities layout and design as well as a solid understanding of machinability and materials characteristics are a plus.

Pay: $67,125.65 - $80,839.49 per year
