A client of Sharp Decisions Inc. is looking for a Mechanical Engineerto be based in Santa Clara, CA. The Position is onsite, and contract duration is 12 months with possible extension. *W2 and local candidates only.
We are developing a revolutionary, low cost single-molecule DNA sequencer that can potentially improve the lives of people in a wide variety of ways including timely screening for diseases and diagnosis of various cancers by fusing biological and integrated circuit technology. We are seeking a mechanical engineer to support development of consumable fluidic devices at Santa Clara, with educational and/or professional background in mechanical and/or process engineering. This candidate will be responsible for supporting consumable device components and surface chemistry teams in a variety of activities as needed.
Responsibilities
- Flowcell manufacturing, process development and assembly.
- Facilitate senior engineers in SolidWorks design.
- Dimensional and mechanical measurements, including data analysis and reporting.
- Surface metrology and characterization.
- Component testing, quality checks, and visual inspection.
- Sample preparation for external analysis.
- Component and subcomponent inventory management; shipping preparation and receiving.
- In summary, this role will have a focus on supporting multiple engineering activities in a timely manner, to support the needs of the project as necessary.
Qualifications and Skills- Associates or Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline from an accredited institution, 0-2 years of professional experience required, but hands-on lab experience is preferred.
- Microfabrication, microfluidics and materials knowledge or experience is also a plus.
- Excellence in familiarity with SolidWorks, Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets or equivalent required.
- Familiarity with metrology or microscopy equipment is also a big plus.
