Role Description
We are seeking a full-time, on-site Wine & Spirits Specialist to join our team in New York, NY. The Specialist will play an essential role in assisting customers with wine selections, providing education and recommendations, maintaining product knowledge, and supporting inventory management.
Qualifications
- Experience in wine sales and/or wine education preferred
- Strong knowledge of oenology, wineries, and winemaking processes
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Passion for wine and spirits
- Previous retail experience is a plus
Job Description
The Wine & Spirits Specialist will work regular weekly shifts and must have flexibility for evening and weekend hours, particularly on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays (Sunday availability is required). We are open to candidates with or without prior experience — if you bring passion and reliability, you will learn a lot here.
Job Tasks
- Arrive on time and consistently for all scheduled shifts
- Engage with customers on the sales floor, providing knowledgeable recommendations
- Answer phones and fulfill customer orders
- Generate inventory re-order lists
- Assist with stocking shelves and creating product displays
- Contribute to in-store advertising and marketing efforts
- Post POs and update products in the POS system
- Complete other tasks as assigned by management
Job Requirements
- Ability to create a friendly and welcoming environment for customers
- General computer skills and comfort with POS systems
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work with a diverse team and clientele
- Professional demeanor and appearance
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Reliability and punctuality are essential
