About This Role
Noveon is seeking a Lab Engineer to expand our product development group, working closely with our advisory engineers. In this role, the successful candidate will work with state of the art analytical and material characterization equipment. They will support the R&D activities providing and helping to resolve technical project requests, as well as support new product development and product release.
A successful candidate will get hands-on experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, as well as to demonstrate and develop drive and innovation. The successful candidate will be supporting the R&D and QC and QA activities.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Performing routine and non-routine tests and analyses using the appropriate technical equipment and instruments.
- Receiving or collecting, as well as processing, samples.
- Maintaining calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Performing preventive maintenance on testing equipment.
- Elaborating SOP’s and other Laboratory documentation.
- Preparing samples for metallography and compositional analysis.
- Evaluating data and draft reports, noting any relevant deviations from existing standards.
- Identifying areas for quality control improvement and implementing new methods accordingly.
- Maintaining equipment in proper working order and maintaining a clean work area.
- Practicing safe work habits, including complying with all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations.
- Managing the inventory related to chemicals and analytical supplies.
- Developing and maintaining inspection reports.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
We Are Looking For Someone Who
- Has an associate or bachelor’s degree in a scientific field preferred (chemistry, metallurgy, or materials sciences).
- Holds 0-2 years of experience working in a laboratory. (Magnet testing experience highly preferred.)
- Is able to learn new laboratory approaches and techniques for inorganic materials characterization.
- Has a strong understanding of instrumental analysis, testing techniques, and quality control standards.
- Possesses knowledge of characterization techniques.
- Is knowledgeable of the following computer skills: knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant computer programs Analytical and numerical skills: ability to perform mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in different units of measurement; ability to use concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios.
- Has the ability to write correspondence and reports.
- Can perform physically demanding work such as moving and lifting equipment, standing for long periods of time, etc.
- Has excellent organizational and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret information.
Physical Requirements
- Able to move up to 50lbs.
- Possesses manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately.
- Can wear PPE.
- Comfortable standing for long periods of time, up to and exceeding 60 minutes.
- Is capable of making repetitive movements including, but not limited to, sitting, squatting and walking up and down stairs.
