JOB SUMMARY
The Manager, Portfolio Finance & Valuation Analysis will play a critical role in supporting fund valuations, portfolio company financial analysis, and strategic reporting for the CFO and the valuation committee. This role is designed for a finance professional with strong analytical and technical expertise who can connect company-level performance with fund-level valuation outcomes. The successful candidate will combine deep financial modeling and valuation experience with the ability to assess company performance drivers, legal documentation, and industry trends.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Valuation Ownership: Lead the quarterly valuation process of portfolio companies, including model development, updates, and presentation of results to the CFO, President, and CIO for review by the valuation committee.
- Financial Analysis: Analyze portfolio company financial performance against forecasts and industry benchmarks, identifying drivers of variance and implications for fund valuations.
- Economic Modeling: Build and maintain complex economic and capitalization models, including liquidation waterfalls and ownership structures.
- Industry Research: Leverage platforms such as PitchBook and SPINS data to collect, monitor, and interpret company-specific and industry-wide performance metrics.
- Portfolio Company Engagement: Partner with portfolio company finance teams to assess forecasting accuracy, operational performance, and strategic financial planning.
- Documentation Review: Analyze legal documents (e.g., financing agreements, shareholder agreements) to ensure proper interpretation of terms impacting valuation and fund economics.
- Reporting: Deliver clear, concise, and timely reports for the CFO that provide insights into portfolio trends, valuation movements, and key risks/opportunities.
- Strategic Support: Support fundraising, investor reporting, and other special projects requiring valuation or portfolio analysis expertise.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- CPA or CFA (CFA Level II or above strongly preferred).
- 3–6 years of relevant experience in investment banking, private equity, valuation advisory, or portfolio management within an investment firm.
- Strong technical expertise in financial modeling, valuation methodologies (DCF, market comps, precedent transactions), and liquidation waterfalls.
- Proficiency in financial data platforms (PitchBook, SPINS, Capital IQ, etc.).
- Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to synthesize financial and market data into actionable insights.
- Strong communication skills and ability to present complex analyses clearly to senior leadership.
- Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational and project management skills.
Salary Range: $110,000 – $140,000
Bonus Potential: 15–25% performance-based bonus
