Job Overview
ACTE2S is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Environmental Engineer to support complex environmental projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in engineering principles and demonstrate eagerness to develop expertise in diverse subjects including environmental site assessment, remediation, compliance, and federal environmental projects.
Additionally, the candidate should desire exposure to construction, industrial, and manufacturing projects, which will provide a foundation of experience for a lifelong career in engineering. You will work under the supervision of Professional Engineers while contributing to projects primarily in the Tampa, Florida area but also across the country at various federal facilities and private/industrial plants.
Responsibilities
- Support environmental site assessments and contamination studies by collecting field data and environmental media samples
- Assist with regulatory and federal compliance reporting
- Participate in UST/AST management programs including monthly monitoring and remediation activities
- Prepare technical reports, data analysis, and project documentation following established protocols
- Utilize AutoCAD and GIS software for site mapping, data visualization, and technical drawings
- Support environmental health and safety compliance on federal and industrial project sites
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including geologists, contractors, and regulatory agencies
- Assist with construction oversight and environmental compliance
- Maintain accurate project records and ensure quality control of all deliverables
- Participate in client meetings and regulatory agency coordination as needed
Experience and Skills
- 1-3+ years of engineering experience preferred
- Software experience, including GIS, AutoCAD, environmental modeling software
- Fate and transport modeling and conceptual site modeling experience preferred
- Schedule development (e.g., Gantt charts) and project coordination experience
- Understanding of project contracting and procurement processes
- Environmental documentation and regulatory compliance experience preferred
- Regulatory framework familiarity (CERCLA, RCRA, NEPA)
- Experience with contaminant assessment (petroleum, diesel, chlorinated solvents, PFAS)
- Technical modeling and groundwater flow analysis
- Soil characterization and field investigation techniques
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for environmental data interpretation
- Excellent technical writing skills for report preparation and regulatory documentation
- Ability to work independently while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering required. The right candidate may also have a degree in Industrial Systems, Mechanical, or other related fields
- EIT certification preferred or actively working towards certification
- Professional Engineer (PE) license pathway expected
