Founded in 2020, Memphis-based Redwood Services is building a family of people-focused essential home service companies, actively investing in the HVAC, plumbing, and electrical trades throughout the United States. Redwood is now one the largest, fastest growing investors in the space - operating multiple brands across the country and continuing to build out a national network of premier home services companies.
POSITION SUMMARY
The M&A Analyst will support all aspects of the M&A lifecycle, including top-of-funnel deal evaluation, initial diligence, investment memos, and deal execution. In addition, the role will assist with corporate strategy and financial analysis at the Redwood HoldCo level.
This is a highly visible position that will work closely with the broader senior leadership team and the Board of Directors. The ideal candidate will be intellectually curious, detail-oriented, and collaborative, with a “roll up the sleeves” mentality.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Deal Evaluation
- Gather, analyze and evaluate accounting, financial and operational data and other key business metrics to evaluate potential Partners / Tuck-ins – including preparation of deal datapacks and other key evaluation tools
- Form initial opinions on the potential fit as a Redwood Partner / Tuck-in Opportunity
Initial Diligence
- Maintain and update diligence status, sharing with target companies as needed
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure timely information flow
- Quality-check, analyze, and summarize operational and financial diligence data
- Draft preliminary term sheets/LOIs
Investment Memos
- Analyze business trends in revenue and margin, including analysis of raw data sets
- Assist in industry-specific analyses focused on post-close synergies and value creation
- Develop pro forma financials and projections
- Identify trends in the target’s competitive environment
- Summarize and present findings and investment recommendations to senior management and the Board of Directors
Deal Execution
- Work with internal stakeholders to support integration planning across multiple functions within the organization
- Aid in the deal structuring and negotiation process
- Work closely with key deal vendors including outside accounting and law firms
Corporate Strategy / Financial Analysis
- Contribute to Redwood HoldCo financial/strategic modeling (long-term cash flow, KPI/covenant analysis, valuation metrics, etc.)
- Track key HoldCo metrics (IRR, MOIC, entry multiples, exit multiples)
- Prepare materials for quarterly lender packages, Board meetings, investor presentations, and other stakeholders
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree with a concentration in accounting, business, or finance
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience in FP&A, consulting, corporate development, investment management, finance, or similar roles
- Ability to organize ideas, synthesize information, and articulate key arguments and findings in oral, written, and presentation form
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; comfort working with financial models and large datasets
- Prior M&A exposure is preferred but not required
