What To Expect
Tesla is looking for a highly motivated Equipment Engineer to create manufacturing equipment and processes for our cutting-edge Castings and CNC Machining of various product manufacturing facility. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on extremely challenging projects. In addition to developing manufacturing equipment and processes, Manufacturing Engineers work with cross-functional teams throughout the entire product lifecycle. You will work closely with Design Engineering, Quality and Production to take new part designs into full production with new equipment and update existing equipment designs to meet new production needs.

Design manufacturing equipment and fixturesDevelop manufacturing processesDrive design for manufacturabilityCollaborate with small teams on in-house development of novel and complex automation equipmentDevelop specifications for custom automation equipmentClosely collaborate with external equipment integrators on custom automation equipment designManage external equipment integrators from equipment development through buyoffValidate and characterize new equipment and fixtures for production implementationCreate detailed Manufacturing Instructions to document new processesDesign production workstations for ergonomics and efficiency
What You'll Bring
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experienceExperience with multiple new product startups and new equipment installationsExperience developing automated manufacturing equipment for new and unique productsExperience designing mechanical equipment, fixturing and tooling in CAD (SolidWorks preferred, Catia is also a plus)Experience transitioning equipment or fixtures from prototype to productionStrong mechanical fabrication and machine shop skills, operating a mill, lathe, welder a plusExperience working with industrial robots (FANUC, Kuka) preferredControls experience including PLC programming knowledge preferredExperience introducing new equipment and new processes into a production environment (APQP is a plus)Extensive project management experience

Expected Compensation
$72,000 - $129,600/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
