Company Description
Mechanical Design Engineer will play an instrumental role in the development of prototypes and solutions supporting Client’s entirely new scientific approach to communications and sensing in some of the most difficult environments on Earth. The platforms developed will utilize Plasmonics to enable communications beyond the reach of all current wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi, radio, acoustics, and optical, and in so doing will open the work to a vast array of industries and use cases. The applicant will design platforms to operate in a variety of physical environments, including underwater, in cold environments, in hot/humid jungle environments, underground, and more, and so will require the expertise to design to different sets of tolerances. The applicant will be part of a small, rapidly growing team doing rapid prototyping on an array of projects.

The applicant will interface with many other disciplines as part of a multidisciplinary engineering effort.
As the team develops, the applicant will help shape the dynamics and culture of the engineering team.
Required Experience and Background:
Client requires the following experience and background for the successful applicant:
Ability to obtain a government security clearance.
Experience building secure solutions for DOD and/or other classified environments.
Experience working with Radiofrequency (RF), Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS), antennas, wireless communications, and associated elements.
Experience working with underwater electronics/antenna systems.
Experience with molding, encapsulating, and water tightening.
Experience designing, shipping, and supporting products in production, preferably in both government (DOD) and commercial sectors.
Ability to do prototyping, including 3D printing and integrating with embedded systems, antennas, and other hardware.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with audiences of diverse backgrounds and disciplines.
Ability to perform upgrades, repairs, and creative problem solving in a wide variety of field environments such as maritime, jungles, cold environments, underground, and many more.

Client prefers the following experience and background:
Practical expertise with systems used in critical environments such as DOD, IIoT, etc.
Experience working with multidisciplinary teams of engineers and businesspeople.
Ability to present a professional image for field and customer-facing duties.
