Job Title: Coordinator, Communications - South Bay Lakers

Position Summary: The Communications Coordinator for the South Bay Lakers serves as media’s main point of contact for all South Bay Lakers matters, organizing and facilitating all communications and media relations engagements for the Lakers G League team. The coordinator is responsible for ensuring a season-long seamless, effective and efficient experience for journalists and broadcasters, writing media materials, coordinating media attendance and managing all game day communications operations. Additionally, this role supports Los Angeles Lakers communications activities and game day needs.
Essential Functions (Duties & Responsibilities**):
Game Day Coordination
- Oversee and coordinate media credentials for local and visiting media, working with G league management and the broader communications team for guidance
- Receive, compile and process credential requests and disseminate media credentials for each game
- Manage home game media logistics including arrivals and check-in, seating assignments, distributing game information and capturing and circulating data and insights helpful to drive coverage
- Partner with the marketing department to develop storylines across editorial and owned channels
PR Publication Production
- Assist in the researching, writing and editing of South Bay Lakers publications and information
- Develop media guides, rosters, player bios, coaches bios, game notes and press releases
- Coordinate production logistics of publications, ensuring the highest standard of creation and presentation while managing sustainability and ease-of-use
- Support development of additional media materials for the Los Angeles Lakers, as directed
- Upload media materials to South Bay Lakers and Los Angeles Lakers media portals, ensuring flawless and quick distribution
Day-to-Day Media Support
- Attend and support South Bay Lakers practices to manage internal and external player requests
- Support media and broadcast interview requests for South Bay Lakers players, coaches and front office staff
- Pitch media for opportunities to cover the South Bay Lakers on and off the court
- Service broadcast partner Spectrum SportsNet with South Bay Lakers content, stats and information throughout the season
- Research, plan and support logistics for media events including signage, scheduling, run of show, production, invitations, spokesperson preparation and more
- Monitor news and share clips with the Lakers organization
Additional Responsibilities
- Secure South Bay Lakers players for media and marketing needs to drive awareness and interest
- Support the Los Angeles Lakers communications efforts for game day, practices and shootaround
- Support media needs for Summer League in Las Vegas, working with the broader Lakers communications team
- Provide administrative and clerical support to team leadership, as assigned
- Miscellaneous other tasks and special projects, as needed and assigned
- Responsibilities subject to change based on organizational needs and direction from management.
Education (Required/ Preferred): Bachelor’s degree (required) in Communications/ Journalism/ PR (preferred) or related field
Previous experience: A minimum of two years / seasons of applicable internships or in-field experience working in communications, public relations, media relations or sports
Technology Capabilities
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign and the ability to create and publish
- Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint & SharePoint)

Physical Demands: Ability to lift 25 lbs. and a significant amount of walking on game day
Location: El Segundo (offices and training center M-F and some weekends), downtown Los Angeles (Crypto.com Arena for Laker home games), summer league away games, other occasional off-site events
The pay range for this role is $20.00 to $23.00 per hour. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and certifications. In addition to those factors, we consider the relative pay of our current employees in similar positions when making a final offer.
