Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Finance Manager to oversee our financial operations and contribute to the strategic direction of our organization, focusing on preserving, protecting, and enhancing the community's infrastructure and resources. The Manager reports directly to the Executive Director serving as the ED’s financial thought partner, translating strategic goals into sound financial practices while safeguarding the integrity of the day-to-day operations. This includes managing all accounting and business functions, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Financial Reporting and Collections while collaborating with the department heads on all financial matters. This role will also ensure systems are in place to maintain control, accuracy, and efficiency. The Finance Manager is an integral role in ensuring the long-term financial stability and operational excellence. The Finance Manager should develop a thorough understanding of the operations that translate into accurate budgets, clear variance reporting, and practical recommendations that strengthen accountability and performance.
The Finance Manager must bring unquestionable integrity and financial expertise for leadership and governance. She/He will be approachable and collaborative, building rapport across the organization while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in corporate finance, accounting, and risk management, with a proven ability to lead financial planning and analysis efforts. This role requires a deep understanding of financial concepts, regulatory reporting, and compliance management to ensure the organization meets its fiscal responsibilities while driving business development initiatives.
Duties
- Direct financial operations of the Association and club funds utilizing fund accounting in association accounting software. Forumulate, receive and recommend policies for approval for accounting, auditing, budgeting, cost controls and internal accounting controls. Lead the preparation and interpretation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards.
- Oversee corporate accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger accounting, and balance sheet reconciliation.
- Conduct risk analysis and manage compliance with regulatory requirements across various sectors including non-profit and governmental accounting.
- Develop and implement strategic financial plans that align with organizational goals, focusing on budgeting, forecasting, and cost management.
- Manage treasury operations including cash flow analysis and investment management to optimize liquidity. Maintain investment strategy to maximize earnings on Reserve Funds.
- Issue billing statements, post ACH payments, manage delinquencies and collection and implement budgeting processes with Department heads.
- Prepare and deliver professional financial presentations to the Finance Committee and Board of Directors providing clear analysis and recommendations.
- Utilize industry standard software, and possess exccellent skills in all the Microsoft 365 platforms.
- Assists with accounting/cost analysis with Reserve Study, reviewing expenditures, managing operating, capital and reserve funds accounts.
- Manage employee benefits, PTO, 401K and worker's compensation account and claims. Oversee payroll, input, payroll taxes and ensure all federal, and state labor laws are followed, maintaining accurate and complete payroll reports.
- Maintain depreciation schedule for fixed assets.
- Assist and respond to questions from residents, auditors, reserve study specialist, Board of Directors, Treasurer and Finance Committee upon request.
Experience
- A minimum of 6 years in a finance management role or similar position within HOA or nonprofit sectors.
- Strong knowledge of risk management practices, cost accounting, and investment strategies.
- Demonstrated expertise in fiscal management, financial report writing, account analysis, and revenue management.
- Familiarity with advanced financial concepts including forecasting, budgeting, cost control, and strategic planning is essential.
- Experience with compliance management and understanding of regulatory frameworks affecting various industries is preferred.
