About the Role:
We're looking for a passionate Software Engineer Co-op to join our backend engineering team. In this role, you'll work alongside experienced engineers to design, develop, and optimize Java-based microservices that make our car sharing experience smarter, faster, and simpler for millions of users. Contribute to improving the end-to-end car rental journey, making it more seamless and intuitive for users. Solve complex backend challenges that streamline the rental experience for both individual members and our B2B partners. Build scalable solutions that support partner integrations, corporate rentals, and enterprise-level use cases.
This is an opportunity to dive into real-world engineering challenges, contribute directly to production systems, and gain hands-on experience in a modern microservices architecture.
What You'll Do:
- Develop and maintain Java-based microservices in a cloud-native architecture.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (front-end, product, QA) to deliver reliable and scalable features.
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and daily stand-ups.
- Write clean, testable, and efficient code following best practices.
- Help improve system performance and reduce technical debt through refactoring and optimization.
- Investigate and debug backend issues, proposing solutions to improve system robustness and user experience.
- Contribute to improving the end-to-end car sharing journey, making it more seamless and intuitive for users.

- Languages: Java (Spring Boot)
- Architecture: RESTful APIs, Microservices
- Databases: SQL/NoSQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
- Cloud & DevOps: Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, AWS/GCP/Azure
- Tools: Git, Jira, IntelliJ, Postman

What We’re Looking For:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (Java preferred).
- Familiarity with backend technologies and service-oriented architecture.
- Interest in building scalable backend systems and solving real-world problems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Minimum GPA 3.0
Good-Faith Salary Range:
The hourly rate for this position is between $20-24 per hour. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
