Senior Electrical Engineer (Solar Power Systems)

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team of professionals at Solar Liberty. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power and power systems, with a focus on medium voltage, solar generation, distribution, and transmission. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will play a vital role in the design, implementation, and maintenance of solar power systems to ensure their safety, reliability, and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop electrical systems for solar power generation systems, including medium voltage connections to utility distribution and transmission systems.
- Review and approve engineering plans, designs, and specifications, ensuring compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes, as well as industry standards.
- Create and compile multi-disciplinary, construction level plan sets based on conceptual design sketches and schematics, and in accordance with all relevant codes and standards.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, project managers, and construction professionals to develop optimal solar power system designs and solutions.
- Conduct power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, and arc flash analyses.
- Prepare technical reports, energy performance monitoring and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support project teams throughout the lifecycle of solar power projects, from concept to commissioning and maintenance.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Continually monitor industry trends and advancements in solar power technologies to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in Electrical construction focusing on power and power systems, including medium voltage, solar generation and utility distribution.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including the National Electrical Code (NEC), IEEE standards for grid connected distributed generation and NESC.
- Familiarity with utility grade microprocessor relays and protective device coordination.
- Proficient in using AutoCAD or other design software in the creation of detailed electrical design plans and compilation of multi-disciplinary construction plan sets.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, while maintaining attention to detail.
