We Are Currently Seeking
A General Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will perform a variety of highly skilled accounting functions on behalf of the City's Finance Department; reconcile assigned City funds and bank accounts; compile and analyze financial data; prepare a variety of financial records and reports; respond to accounting inquiries from City departments; and provide technical support in relation to the City's financial software system.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Producing journal entries and other entries required for monthly and annual accounting period(s) closing.
- Researching and preparing general ledger information, history, and projections for the Director of Finance, Assistant City Managers, and City Manager.
- Compiling, analyzing, and verifying the accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Responding to a variety of accounting inquiries from City departments and personnel including but not limited to accounts, transaction activities, and/or other finance matters.
- Preparing schedules for and providing responses to inquiries by the external audit firm in support of the City's annual financial statement audit.
- Preparing information and reports required for the generation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
- Participating in the adoption and implementation of future GASB pronouncements.
- Reconciling cash accounts with bank statements for various Combined Funds, the City's Payroll bank account, and the COSA Development Corporation bank accounts.
- Compiling and analyzing information related to grants, verifying requests for grant assistance, preparing related documentation, and requesting reimbursement for various grants.
- Preparing and maintaining a variety of financial records for the City including monthly accounting reports, grant reimbursements, bank reconciliations, capital asset records, fire retirement records, and other special reports.
- Preparing and filing sales tax related reports to federal and state agencies.
- Providing technical support and training to City personnel regarding the City's financial software system.
- Performing payroll, accounts payable, and/or accounts receivable duties as assigned or required.
- Hours: M-F; 8am-5pm
- Regular and timely attendance is required.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Data Analytics or related field; and general fund accounting and bank reconciliation experience preferred but not required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses Or Certifications
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver License with a good driving record.
- Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
- Work is performed in a standard office environment.

Salary: $59089 per year
