About Balance FMS
Balance FMS provides Financial Management Services to individuals and families in California’s Self-Determination Program (SDP). We handle payroll, vendor onboarding, invoicing, and compliance with the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and Regional Centers. Our mission is to make the Self-Determination process easier and more transparent for participants and families.
Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Operations Systems Consultant to help Balance FMS streamline internal processes and establish clear, efficient systems. This is a short-term, 8-week project focused on improving workflow, organization, and structure — not just identifying problems but creating real solutions that work.
Responsibilities
- Review and map out current workflows (vendor onboarding, employee onboarding, invoicing, payroll coordination, compliance tracking, etc.).
- Identify inefficiencies and design smoother, more consistent systems.
- Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for key processes.
- Build tools such as spreadsheets, checklists, shared folders, and templates to support daily operations.
- Recommend and set up automation or AI-based solutions where useful.
- Train staff on new systems and ensure a smooth handoff.
- Deliver a Balance FMS Operations Manual summarizing workflows and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in business operations, process improvement, or systems management.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Familiarity with FMS, accounting, or DDS/Regional Center systems is a plus.
- Proficient in documenting workflows and building internal tools.
- Experience with AI or automation platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, Zapier, Notion AI, Airtable) is a plus but not required.

Pay: $38.00 - $45.00 per hour
