Responsible for all aspects of pressroom process development for both new, incoming and existing tools. Coordinate all activities required to ensure a smooth start-up to new processes, uninterrupted production and overall reduction in scrap rate.
Essential Job Duties
· Develop, implement and maintain an automation plan for company, maximizing the profitability of the pressroom.
· Direct all efforts in the areas of set-up time reduction for all manufacturing areas.
· Develop and implement product flows that maximize productivity.
· Develop and implement all fixtures needed in manufacturing.
· Train and review all personnel within your supervision: material handlers and technicians.
· Sample, develop and document production processes that will effectively maximize productivity. The process development efforts will include any research into new or improved ways of manufacturing and documenting proving that further development is t needed or not (i.e. capability studies, design of experiments, etc.). Setups are to be simplified as much as possible using the input from production / manufacturing schedules. Development of processing, set-up and material handling operational procedures.
· Sampling of new, modified or customer supplied tools. Coordinate Sample Orders and provide efficient mold sampling and data collection. Coordinate with production, engineering, toolroom, quality and maintenance, to ensure all aspects of new production runs are complete prior to actual production.
· New and current tool and process capability studies, evaluations and recommendations.
· Participate in Program (Design) Reviews. Recommend efficient mold design for optimum functionality, processing capability and quality. Identify all necessary requirements for production and processing.
· Identify and document tooling / process shortcomings and recommend needed changes and/or improvements.
· To facilitate the discussion and review of problems with in-house tool engineering / process development teams and to assist in a documented plan with each customer / tool. Evaluate equipment and recommend improvement or replacement. Act as liaison between Production, Engineering, Quality and Sales on all process / tool related issues. Perform design of experiments to improve process and part quality.
· Identify and schedule repairs on any equipment critical to control the molding process. Troubleshoot any equipment suspected of malfunction and tag them (LIMITED USE OR DO NOT USE). Develop a plan of attack with manufacturing / production to schedule, troubleshoot and accomplish all applicable repairs. Coordinate with the Maintenance Department to formulate maintenance schedules on equipment.
· Troubleshoot production jobs as required.
· Assist with start-ups and changeovers.
· Identify proper maintenance for all equipment used in the molding process or used to control it. Document benchmark parameters on molding equipment and specify min / max limits to be used in future evaluations, repair and replacement decisions. Assist in the development of a preventative maintenance plan and refine plan on an ongoing basis. Coordinate with Maintenance Department to formulate maintenance schedules on equipment.
· Commit to continuous improvement and develop molding technology at Hi-Tech. Continue education and training in processing, process capability and design of experiments, SPC, machine technology and capability studies.
· Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
· Education: Degree in Plastics Engineering or equivalent experience
- Experience: 6-8 years plastics processing experience
- Knowledge, Skills and Ability:

- Some heavy lifting (up to approximately 70 lbs.), standing for long periods of time and repetitious motion is required.
