About the role
Join our NPI Engineering team to design and develop precision assemblies that meet demanding customer requirements—balancing thermal and mechanical performance, manufacturability, and schedule. You’ll move from concept to prototype to production, collaborating cross‑functionally to deliver high‑quality products on time and within budget. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, organizational, project management and multi-tasking skills, including proactive problem solving. As part of the NPI Engineering, team will be expected to offer suggestions and participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives.
What you’ll do
- Translate customer requirements (BOMs, 2D/3D drawings, specifications) into manufacturable designs and documentation.
- Estimate time & materials Costing, Part fabrication machining time and assembly time estimation
- Prepare manufacturing drawings including pre-brazing or pre-welding part drawings
- Prepare OMS (operational method sheet) which includes manufacturing process flow diagram, BOM, and work instructions
- Prepare finished part drawings including redlines and ECR/ECO
- Fabricate prototype working with purchasing and manufacturing
- Prototype testing including thermal cycling/uniformity
- Prepare FAI (first article inspection) report
- Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process
- Ensure project timeline is met and project stays within budget
- Manage mechanical design, stress analysis, and machine parts manufacturing processes with outside suppliers to satisfy delivery requirements.
- Generate and present technical information in report and oral presentation format.
- Support design reviews and proposal content.
What you’ll bring
- Proficiency with 3D CAD (Inventor, Solid Edge, SolidWorks) and ability to read assemblies/blueprints/schematics.
- Experience with thermal applications, sensing/heater systems; familiarity with COMSOL a plus.
- Strong communication, technical writing/presentations, and project/time management skills.
- Electrical drafting capabilities, ACADE (Autodesk) or some equivalent
- Must have strong communication and project management skills along with engineering aptitude.
- Skilled at performing appropriate engineering analyses.
- Effective at communication including technical writing and oral presentations.
- Capable of managing projects, including costs and schedules.
- Effective at time management.
- (Level III & Sr) SPC methods, FEA (thermal/stress), Lean/Six Sigma, and 8D problem‑solving exposure.
- Education/Experience by level: Level I—BS in Mechanical (Manufacturing/Electro‑Mechanical or equivalent); Level II—4+ yrs; Level III—6+ yrs; Sr—10+ yrs.
