Job Summary:
The Middle Office team is seeking a Junior Middle Office Analyst to join this dynamic team. This role involves close collaboration with other team members to ensure the accurate and consistent production of daily P&L reports across all commodity products traded by the company. The ideal candidate will possess strong product knowledge, exceptional quantitative and analytical abilities, keen attention to detail, and advanced Excel proficiency.
Job Responsibilities:
- Accurately enter trades into the company’s trading systems across various commodity groups, with a primary focus on Oil, Distillates, Ags, Softs, Metals, Steel, FX, etc.
- Process timely trade amendments and ensure all updates are reflected accurately in the systems
- Reconcile daily P&L variances between trader estimates and actual results, investigating and resolving discrepancies
- Publish daily P&L reports to traders and senior management in a timely manner
- Maintain and update trading system reference data, including book structures and instrument creation
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline
- 1-2 years experience with prior internship or academic experience related to commodities, finance, or data analytics preferred but not required
- Strong interest in commodities trading, risk management, or financial markets.
- Advanced Excel skills required — must be comfortable working with large data sets and using tools such as pivot tables, VLOOKUPs/HLOOKUPs, SUMIFS, and formulas
- Experience with VBA macros or SQL/Python is a plus
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills with close attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to work effectively within a team-oriented structure
- Willingness to work extended hours occasionally to support daily reporting deadlines
