We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Engineering Support Specialist to join our dynamic team and help us continue to push the boundaries of innovation in wood manufacturing.Role OverviewThe Engineering Support Specialist will play a vital role in supporting our engineering and production teams to enhance efficiency, quality, and productivity across our manufacturing operations. This position involves a blend of hands-on problem-solving on the shop floor and desk-based engineering support, requiring technical proficiency, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily engineering support to production departments, assisting with troubleshooting and resolving technical problems that arise on the shop floor.
- Assist in the design and implementation of fixtures, jigs, and tooling to improve product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
- Draft and update engineering documentation, including production drawings, work instructions, and procedures, using CAD software (AutoCAD proficiency is essential).
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and Lean Manufacturing efforts by collecting data, analyzing processes, and suggesting layout or flow improvements.
- Collaborate with the design engineering and production teams to establish and improve manufacturing methods and systems.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for technical procurement and equipment support as needed.
- Assist in the setup and installation of new equipment and processes.
- Ensure all engineering and manufacturing activities comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
Qualifications and Skills
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field, preferably Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is required; experience with other design software (e.g., SolidWorks) is a plus.
- Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the woodworking or custom millwork industry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques and continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
