Controller Needed for Hospitality Concept in Gurnee, IL
Monday-Friday Schedule! $120-$140k + Benefits & 401k!
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee the preparation of monthly accrual-basis financial statements and ensure
accuracy, completeness, and adherence to GAAP.
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly, identifying and resolving
discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Prepare and review monthly and quarterly bank loan covenant calculations and
ensure compliance with lending agreements.
- Manage cash flow and liquidity to support operational and strategic objectives.
- Determine the most effective financing methods for capital expenditures and
strategic investments.
- Lead, develop, and mentor accounting staff to promote accuracy, efficiency, and
professional growth.
- Review and approve payroll, payroll tax filings, and serve as backup for payroll
processing as needed.
- Oversee the customer invoicing and collection process to ensure accuracy,
completeness, and timely collection of receivables.
- Maintain vendor relationships and negotiate contracts and terms as needed to
optimize cash flow and expense controls.
- Partner with departmental managers to align financial reporting and analysis with
organizational goals.
- Present financial results, trends, and key insights to senior management to support
informed decision-making.
- Develop, monitor, and analyze budgets and forecasts; provide recommendations to
improve financial performance.
- Monitor and analyze expenses, identifying and implementing opportunities for cost
optimization.
- Oversee and enhance inventory processes to ensure accuracy and reliability of
reporting.
- Drive continuous improvement in accounting systems, financial processes, and
internal controls to maximize efficiency and integrity.
- Establish, monitor, and strengthen internal control systems to safeguard company
assets and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
Ideal Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
- 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including 3+ years in a
leadership role.
- Experience in food service, catering, or related industries strongly preferred, but
not required
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and build accounting teams.
- Strong knowledge of job costing, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Advanced proficiency with Excel and familiarity with accounting/ERP systems.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and integrity.
- Strong communication skills, with bilingual (English/Spanish) ability preferred
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
