The Engineering Assistant will support the engineering team and production operations by assisting in tasks such as drawings, documentation, data collection, process support, and cross-functional coordination. The role will help ensure engineering deliverables align with manufacturing needs, quality goals, and continuous improvement initiatives.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications / Skills
- Associate degree (or bachelor’s in engineering, manufacturing technology or related) preferred; or equivalent relevant experience.
- Some prior exposure to manufacturing/engineering in a production environment is desirable.
- Basic proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with CAD tools or ERP systems is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, good organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Good written and verbal communication skills; able to work cross-functionally.
- Analytical mindset: comfortable collecting data, interpreting results, and supporting problem solving.
- Team-oriented, proactive, willing to help drive process improvement.
Willingness to work in a manufacturing setting (shop floor environment, noise, standard PPE, production schedule) and possibly travel between shifts/sites if needed.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Assist engineers with preparation of drawings, CAD models, revisions and engineering documentation.
- Maintain and update engineering files, BOMs (Bills of Materials), part lists and change records.
- Support process engineers and production by collecting data, monitoring key metrics (cycle time, yield, scrap, downtime), and generating reports.
- Help troubleshoot production/process issues by gathering information, collaborating with engineering, quality, and operations teams.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in the plant (lean, 5S, cost reduction, waste elimination) by helping coordinate small projects and data-tracking.
- Liaise with other functions (manufacturing, quality, supply chain, maintenance) to ensure engineering deliverables are executed effectively on the shop floor.
- Assist in implementing new manufacturing cells, tooling changes or process improvements under the direction of engineers.
- Participate in manufacture readiness, pilot builds or launch activities as needed.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, documentation control, and engineering change procedures.
- Additional tasks as assigned by the Engineering Manager or Plant leadership.
