The Role
You’ll own automation builds end-to-end: scope → design → data modeling → implementation → testing → monitoring → handoff. Expect real engineering: clean code, scalable patterns, strong interfaces, and rock-solid reliability.
What You’ll Do
- Design and ship production n8n workflows using HTTP nodes, webhooks, queues/retries, sub-flows, and idempotent patterns.
- Build API integrations (REST/JSON, OAuth2/PKCE) with pagination, rate-limit/backoff, and robust error handling.
- Model data across Airtable and SQL (e.g., Supabase/Postgres): schemas, relations, and state machines.
- Write maintainable TypeScript/JavaScript for custom logic, validation, and utilities.
- Add observability: structured logs, run history, alerts, simple dashboards.
- Document clearly (data contracts, sequence diagrams, “how it works”) and record brief Looms for handoff.
- Collaborate with founder/clients to define MVP → Phase 2 and break work into milestones.
Minimum Requirements
- 3+ years in backend/automation/integration development.
- Strong JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals and code quality (testing, linting, structure).
- Proven experience with n8n, REST APIs, webhooks, and OAuth2/PKCE.
- Data skills: Airtable and SQL (Supabase/Postgres), joins, upserts, migrations.
- Pragmatic engineering: Git, env/secrets management, CI basics, error tracking.
- Excellent written/spoken communication; comfortable demoing to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Prompted LLM tooling (strict JSON outputs, schema validation, guardrails).
- Scraping/ETL experience (Playwright/Apify or similar).
- Serverless functions and lightweight cloud ops.
- Basic security/compliance habits (PII handling, least-privilege, audit trails).
Success Looks Like
- 95% successful runs with automatic retries and <1% manual interventions.
- Clean, versioned docs and dashboards for every workflow.
- Measurable business lift (e.g., +qualified leads, hours saved, error reduction).
- On-time delivery of scoped milestones with crisp changelogs.
Working Setup
- Remote (US-friendly hours; America/Chicago preferred).
- Contract or contract-to-hire (10–30 hrs/week to start).
- Competitive pay; milestone-based with bonuses for impact.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year
