Position Description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join our team. This role involves overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, maintaining general ledger accounts and preparing financial statements in accordance with GAAP. This position requires a strategic thinker with excellent analytical skills, capable of managing multiple financial activities concurrently and maintaining the company's financial health. The ideal candidate will have experience in integrating new programs, systems, policies, and protocols within a rapidly changing organization. The Financial Controller will support the overall financial operations of the organization under the remote direction of the Chief Financial Officer.
Duties/Responsibilities
Financial Responsibilities:
- Maintain accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting and Revenue Recognition under guidance of CFO.
- Assist in the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
- Prepare and publish timely monthly, quarterly & annual financial statements.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Support in the preparation of regulatory reporting including 1099’s & ACA reporting for multiple companies.
- Oversee payroll and guide from a reporting perspective with knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Participate in documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Collaborate with business lines to develop and oversee program financial audit, and Federal/ State regulatory compliance requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and coordinate audit processes.
Financial Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements to support decision-making.
- Ensure the preparation of consolidated financial statements for multiple business lines.
- Conduct variance analysis and financial performance review under the guidance of the CFO.
Strategic Planning:
- Support the CFO with the strategic financial planning and execution of corporate initiatives within multiple business lines.
- Support system implementations and upgrades within special projects or process improvement initiatives.
Systems and Processes:
- Ensure efficient and effective use of technology to streamline financial processes and reporting.
- Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely to executive leadership.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Proficient with Quickbooks, Microsoft Office Suite, Procare, G-suite & Intuit Enterprise Solutions.
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
- Ability to easily maneuver between Zoom, Teams and phone communication as the role is based onsite in Fort Walton Beach, Florida but will be working with a remote CFO.
- Potential for advancement within the company is possible. The ability to support multiple business units requires a solid understanding of intercompany transactions.
Education, Certifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field;
- CPA License or CMA certification is preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting management experience, including at least 1 year in a Controller or Accounting Manager role.
- Proven experience in financial management, preferably within holding company/ multi-business line operation.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
