Investment Banking Analyst – Job Description
Position Overview
The Investment Banking Analyst is an entry-level role responsible for supporting senior bankers in executing mergers and acquisitions (M&A), capital raising, and strategic advisory transactions. Analysts perform financial analysis, build valuation models, prepare client presentations, and conduct industry and company research.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain financial models, including:
- Discounted Cash Flow (DCF)
- Comparable Company Analysis
- Precedent Transaction Analysis
- LBO and merger models (as required)
- Prepare pitch books, presentations, and marketing materials for clients
- Conduct financial, industry, and market research
- Analyze financial statements and assess company performance
- Assist in due diligence and transaction execution
- Support senior bankers during live deals and client meetings
- Coordinate with internal teams (legal, accounting, compliance)
- Monitor market trends and relevant news
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related field
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Solid understanding of corporate finance and valuation concepts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work long hours in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior internship experience in investment banking, finance, consulting, or accounting
- Familiarity with financial databases (Bloomberg, Capital IQ, FactSet)
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles
- Exposure to modeling or valuation coursework
