A global food manufacturer with a growing North American presence is hiring a
Human Resources Generalist for its high-volume facility in Mundelein.This company is known for blending innovation with operational excellence and places strong emphasis on safety, quality, and culture.
In this on-site role, you'll be a key HR partner supporting a unionized workforce in a food manufacturing setting. You’ll work closely with managers, union reps, and the HR Director to drive employee engagement, compliance, performance management, and retention.
HR Generalist Responsibilities
- Support the local Human Resources (HR) team with employee record administration, compliance with laws, training, interviewing, and special projects while providing policy guidance and interpretation to employees, as the Human Resources Generalist
- Assist in day-to-day employee management, support HR compliance initiatives, and help reduce legal risks to ensure compliance
- Administer and execute HR programs, including compensation, benefits, and training
- Develop and maintain employee relationships at all levels of the organization, from frontline to senior management
- Resolve complex problems using HR knowledge, engage in HR workstream projects, and support employee engagement through interviews and investigations
- Stay current with HR trends, regulatory changes, and new technologies
- Other duties as assigned
What’s needed?
- 2+ years of HR experience in manufacturing (food industry preferred)
- Direct experience in a unionized environment, including handling grievances and contract adherence
- Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills across all levels
- Bilingual in Spanish required
Location: Mundelein
Compensation: $60,000–$75,000+ (depending on experience) + Benefits
