This position is part of the materials and process engineering group supporting materials compliance requests and plating operation. This candidate will be working closely with our plating operation and stationed at our facility in Glendale, CA. This candidate shall have the ability to communicate effectively with their peers.
Responsibilities:
- Review bill of materials (BOM), assembly procedures, drawings, technical data sheets, and safety data sheets for information needed for compliance requests (internal and external)
- Review internal processing specifications to ensure applicable industry standards such as AMS, ASTM, etc. are met
- Process development and improvement for plating operations
- Research and development of plating processes
- Utilizing design of experiment (DOE) for failure analysis to identify the root cause and provide method of prevention. Documenting the result with technical report and presentation
- Generating standard operating procedures (SOPs) for plating related processes
- Sample preparation for metallographic analysis and microhardness testing
- Participate in a daily MRB session
Minimum Requirements:
- B.S. in materials engineering, or chemical engineering with a specialization in materials science
- Minimum 3 years of direct plating experience
- Technical writing skill
- Proficient in MS Office
- Ability to multitask and attention to detail
- Ability to lift 15 lbs box and/or fixtures
Preferred
- Experience in plating automation
- Knowledge in materials (ferrous, nonferrous, polymer), microstructure, and chemistry
- Experience working in high volume manufacture environment
- Experience working in laboratory environment
Experience with testing methods such as microhardness, metallographic equipment, optical microscope, etc.
