About The Role
Callen-Lorde seeks a motivated Social Media Assistant to join our Communications team. This role is crucial in cultivating community partnerships and creating engaging, meaningful content about Callen-Lorde’s essential work and impact for both internal and external audiences. The Social Media Assistant will play a key role in communicating our mission and values to diverse stakeholders, including patients, staff, community partners, and the general public.
Key Responsibilities
As a Social Media Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- Storytelling & Content: Develop, write, and edit content that highlights patient and staff experiences. Create newsletters, social media posts, and written materials, and assist with managing the editorial calendar.
- Communications: Help produce and distribute internal updates. Manage and update content on the health center’s website and other digital platforms.
- Community Liaison: Act as a key contact for community partners and advocacy groups, gathering materials and tracking public presence opportunities (e.g., Pride events, health fairs).
- Analytics: Track and analyze the performance of content and communication initiatives, utilizing KPIs and audience feedback to refine strategies.
Work Schedule: This full-time position is from Monday - Friday (8am-4pmor9am-5pm), 3 days onsite with occasional evening and Saturday (events).

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Creative Writing, Marketing, or related fields.
- 1-2 years of experience in communications, writing, or content development, preferably in a healthcare or nonprofit setting.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to conduct interviews and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in digital communications, including website content management systems and email platforms.
- Creative thinker with the ability to generate new ideas and approaches to storytelling and content creation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Desired Characteristics, Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Mailchimp, WordPress and working knowledge of HTML/CSS.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign and Canva is a plus.
- Knowledge or experience in healthcare, particularly sexual health, health education, as well as LGBTQ+ and HIV related issues is encouraged.
- Experience serving diverse populations preferred.
