Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and innovative Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical engineering. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical knowledge and principles in Structural Analysis. The Product Design Engineer will be responsible for leading the design and development of new products from concept through production.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of new products from concept through production
- Create 3D CAD models, detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Analyze designs and develop/test prototypes for fabricated structural assemblies.
- Collaborate with marketing and customer teams to translate user needs into product specifications
- Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Automation, Design for Assembly (DFA) and Packaging principles in all designs.
- Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers to evaluate materials, processes and tooling options
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous product and process improvement
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards applicable to the industry (NHTSA, etc.)
- Manage engineering change orders (ECO), bill of materials (BOM) and product lifecycle documentation (ECN)
Requirements
- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Strong grasp of principles in Structural Analysis
- Basic Understanding of electrical systems
- Minimum of one year work experience
- Proven experience in mechanical design
- Excellent project scheduling skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to quality.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration within teams
Preferred Skills
- 3+ years performing and analyzing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) structural analysis
- 3+ years experience in a mechanical design position or related field
