Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Summary
At MPS the Manufacturing & Production Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing mechanical components, assemblies, and production processes to support efficient manufacturing operations.
Job Duties
- Design mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Create detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and BOMs following GD&T and industry standards.
- Conduct engineering calculations (stress, tolerance stack-up, thermal, materials).
- Evaluate design concepts for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA).
- Provide engineering support to manufacturing teams for troubleshooting issues.
- Assist with root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions for design or process failures.
- Coordinate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and revisions.
- Assist with prototyping, pilot builds, and validation testing.
- Conduct FMEA (DFMEA/PFMEA) and risk assessments.
- Ensure smooth transition from prototype to mass production.
- Create concepts, performance and production criteria
- Identify and select materials needed for production
- Create parts lists
- Complete all necessary documents fully and accurately
- Adhere to 5S standards (e.g., maintain cleanliness of work area, etc.)
- Follow all Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in mechanical design, production engineering, or manufacturing.
- Performs work under general supervision
- Handle moderately complex issues and problems and refer more complex issues to higher-level staff
- Possess solid working knowledge of subject matter

Salary Range: $75k - $85k
