Nielsen Madsen + Barber, a long-established civil engineering and land surveying firm located in southeastern Wisconsin has an immediate opening for an experienced Water Resources – Environmental Engineer.
The candidate selected for this position will enjoy working at a professional firm with over 71 years of history and will have the opportunity to utilize their engineering, organizational, and project management skills on a wide variety of water resources / environmental engineering related projects.
The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering; a minimum of four (4) years’ experience working on stormwater and environmental related projects and possess a current State of Wisconsin or State of Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design drainage systems and stormwater management facilities for municipalities and developments.
- Assess development impacts to wetlands, waterways, floodplains, and environmental corridors.
- Analyze flood risks, conveyance systems, and sediment transport.
- Prepare stormwater models for quantity and quality analysis.
- Prepare hydrological and hydraulic models for waterways.
- Write and assemble stormwater management plans.
- Prepare Department of Natural Resources and US Army Corps of Engineers permits.
- Have a good working knowledge of the municipal review / approval process.
- Perform ordinance compliance reviews of developer-based improvement projects.
- Perform requested studies and prepare reports of findings with recommended solutions.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in civil, water resources, or environmental engineering.
- Ability to work in project teams and communicate effectively.
- Have a good understanding of state and local stormwater management codes / requirements.
- Experience with land development, stormwater management, and environmental permitting.
- Proficient with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, WinSLAMM, and HydroCAD software.
- Possess organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects / tasks.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
