The Finance Manager will oversee the accounting department and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, while also managing and developing the accounting team. Experience in manufacturing (specifically Job Costing, Cost Accounting, and WIP accounting), ERP system proficiency, and understanding of inventory valuation (lumber, glass, hardware). Knowledge of wood aluminum clad and fiber glass patio doors and windows manufacturing a plus. This role involves a mix of technical accounting expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to analyze financial data to support strategic decision-making. The Finance Manager will also manage Human Resources and IT functions.
The Finance Manager plays a vital role in the following:
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Preparing and analyzing financial statements, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, projection modeling, ensuring compliance with accounting standards like GAAP.
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Developing and managing budgets, forecasting financial performance
- Providing insights to support strategic planning.
- Cost accounting expertise to ensure results based on strategic decisions related to forecasting and budget.
- Margin analysis and pricing strategy.
Maintaining Financial Records
- Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial records, including general ledger maintenance and reconciliations.
Compliance and Internal Controls
- Establishing and enforcing accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and maintaining strong internal controls.
Collaboration and Communication
- Working with other departments, such as sales, operations, and management, to provide financial information and support their activities.
Process Improvement
- Identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes, streamline workflows, and enhance efficiency.
Supervising and Managing the Accounting Team, HR and IT
- Includes hiring, training, and providing guidance to accounting staff, as well as delegating tasks and monitoring their performance.
Skills and Qualifications
Technical Accounting Expertise
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, cost accounting, financial reporting, QuickBooks software and proficient Excel skills to run pivot tables, macros, etc.
Leadership and Management Skills
- Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team of accounting professionals, HR and IT teams.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
- Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and solve complex accounting issues.
- Demonstrated excellent analytical, computerized business platform (cloud) systems, troubleshooting, problem-solving experience and skills.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly and effectively to various stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
